TI is strongly investing in 300-mm wafer fab capacity and capabilities for our continued growth in the next decade and beyond. Our Facilities organization is at the forefront of much of this capacity expansion and as a result, we are searching for TI’s fire protection specialist who will be responsible for a variety of duties that lead fire prevention and protection activities for Texas Instruments. In this role, you will drive innovation and solutions to support Sherman operations and expansion activities. If you have a passion for promoting a positive safety culture and a knowledge of job site safety requirements coupled with an interest in contributing directly to the bottom line of a multi-billion dollar organization, this may be the position for you!

Responsibilities include:

  • Interpretation of building code, life safety code, and fire code requirements, which include familiarity with both ICC and NFPA codes

  • Lead, train and develop appropriate procedures and instructions for designated fire roles

  • Assist in the commissioning of fire alarm, fire suppression, smoke control, and life safety systems

  • Work with local municipalities to research, prepare, and issue fire and life safety notices, permits, and correction letters that outline compliance issues and deficiencies.

  • Assist representatives of public agencies, consultants, and other employees with technical inquiries.

  • Interpret existing standards, develop new standards, review design documentation, and advise agency and contractor management regarding fire safety, and property protection

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage requested projects and equipment installations, including project resources, schedules and budgets

  • Provide technical support to the Facilities organization as a system expert over time

  • Team with other engineering disciplines, management, internal customers, and suppliers to ensure projects and systems are cost effective, within budget, meet the desired design criteria and schedule guidelines

  • Communicate and document the sequence of operations and design intent to others requiring information

  • Provide capacity/demand analysis of utility systems and planning to support growth when required

  • Provide analysis of critical utility systems to understand risks and developing solutions based on assessment

  • Develop and review maintenance and operational procedures to ensure best practices are in place and documented properly

  • Design and manage turnkey projects and coordinating contract work in the field

Qualifications

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in fire protection engineering/technology, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or related engineering degree

  • Cumulative 3.0/4.0 GPA or higher

  • Demonstrated strong customer service orientation and ability to take ownership for issue resolution

  • Expert knowledge of fire protection systems

  • Ability to analyze existing systems and associated monitoring equipment to troubleshoot and resolve problems

  • Remain current on applicable codes, regulations, policies and procedures by attending a variety of continuing education classes, seminars, and/or meetings

  • Conduct training for various business partners and audiences

  • Participate in a variety of special projects related to fire prevention activities
